What made you start working in your craft? Was it a dream? Was it an accident? Was it payment on a bet?
i wanted to make a prom dress. suesue (my granma) knew how to sew. we took a field trip to joanns. she taught me how to crochet. i made a scarf. thats where it al began...and then i had a longgg stint at hancock fabrics where i learned a lot from the ladies i worked with (quilting, hand smocking, hand made chenille, and the like).
Where do you work? What does your fantasy work space look like?
i work out of my apartment- the walk in closet plays host to the rolls of fabric, and i keep the serger & bernina on the dining room table. –my lady is also in the living room, waiting to try on everything new, and the drafting table is always cluttered with patterns/snaps/scissors/random fabrics, and the like. i would love to have an industrial space- floor to ceiling windows, lots of floor space, rolls of fabric lined up against the wall, and industrial storage space.
We all have vending horror stories but has anything really really GOOD ever happened to you?
umm...i think the best thing that has happened so far, is when people come up to my table and they recognise me from another show...that always feels fabulous- i feel a bit the richmond celebrity.
If you had to pick a superhero spokesman for Erin Taylor Designs who would it be and why?

Working on your craft can be a solitary and sometimes lonely venture. What keeps you company?
97.3 the indie radio station, npr
We all have dreams of money – but what would you do if you had the TIME?
i like to start a different crafty project before i even finish the last one...so i have a scarf half done, a necklace half crocheted, and fabrics cut out every where...if i could stay focused & had the time, i would love to be able to do lots of jewelry pieces, expand accessories, and also have a sportswear line...
Crafting beverage of choice?
either a cuppa tea or gin+tonic...it really depends on the project, deadline & mood.
What is the one craft tool you can not live without?
my bernina- she sews all my creations! |
