Circa 2006
What made you start working in your craft? Was it a dream? Was it an accident? Was it payment on a bet?
I wanted cool baby gifts for my sister who was having twins. I had a very specific idea in my head and I couldn’t find it anywhere. When I got sick of shopping I decided to make monsters for the babies. When my high school students kept voicing their opinions about what I should make next I decided to start creating custom made monsters. I think the whole idea of “missing” a monster and me “finding” it is very much like an art lesson plan. I guess it’s the teacher in me.
Where do you work? What does your fantasy work space look like?
I work at my friend’s dining room table. She was nice enough to give me a key so that I could make monsters while she’s at work. My fantasy space isn’t very fancy, it just belongs to me so I can keep it messy.
We all have vending horror stories but has anything really really GOOD ever happened to you?
Should I start doing shows? I’m new to the craft thing and have never done a show before…yikes!
If you had to pick a superhero spokesman for Missing Monsters! who would it be and why?
I guess the dog from Inspector Gadget. He was always solving the mysteries and then Penny would swoop in at the end and take all the credit. That dog would be superb at finding missing monsters.
Working on your craft can be a solitary and sometimes lonely venture. What keeps you company?
Comcast Channel 423. Since I work at my buddy’s house, I use her cable music channels to listen to 80’s classics. Duran Duran, Pat Benetar, Prince, you name it…odds are I love it.
We all have dreams of money – but what would you do if you had the TIME?
Waste it.
Crafting beverage of choice?
7-11 coffee, three splendas and three vanilla creamers.
What is the one craft tool you can not live without?
Definitely my sewing machine.
